Marble stand

A marble column; cylindrical, slightly tapered, upon an octagonal base, with a fat marble upper plate.  Gorgeous grainy sage-verdigris hued green marble, trimmed with ormolu bands on the joins.  Top with a bust or big tendrilled plant.  Yummy.  Heavy.  Excellent condition.  The Laird thinks this started life as a standard lamp base (hence the wiring tunnel in the base).  Circa 1990.
